Affiliate Marketing, What’s Wrong With These People?

Affiliate Marketing has proven itself for decades now and we, the good people of the AM world know that. We offer quality courses and information as we know the impact that passive income can have.

I recently heard something profound:

Would your life change if you had an extra 200 to spare each month? I bet a lot of people would say ‘aye’. Going out more, nice restaurants, new shoes, new clothes.

Sometimes though you want to slap the life out of your screen because your nerves can’t take the silliness anymore. We are not better than ‘them’, heaven forbid. But you just want to scream and maybe even offer a little physical violence to accompany the frustration.

Because for the love of Celine Dion, why don’t these people’ get it? The gloriousness of AM is not to be underestimated! dammit.

Yes, they all want commissions two hours after the website was launched, and we duly warn them that is not realistic. We offer timelines, templates and explain ‘the long haul’. I personally use a six-month window with intermediate steps.

No matter, after three weeks the subscriber, our newfound love has bloodshot eyes and 180 blood pressure because it didn’t pay off fast enough.

Two types of advice that are realistic I believe: the extreme niche and the quick win. We want these bastards to stick around.

Instead of ‘fitness’, ‘woman’ and ‘best Girdle 2026’ I now advice ‘old woman over 75′, woman without a man’ and ‘girdle for over 300 pounds’ – in Texas north.

I’m  exaggerating a bit. Although this last one is not too silly. I used to own a furniture store and we used to have a few products that sold really well. I started to name one of my best products (a white coat hanger with baskets ‘white coat hanger with baskets in city x‘ This got us so much traffic and sales. Being extremely specific. It turns out people use Google Pictures to search for stuff.

I looked it up on Google, I can’t believe it. This is the actual picture I took ten years ago> (Dutch language/ The Netherlands) I sold this business a few years ago.

We want our students to be successful so I recommend the ‘extreme niche’. Our lovelies expect some fast return on their effort after all. So: not ‘Best Running Shoes 2026’ but ‘Best Running Shoes for Athletes without Feet and Legs in Amsterdam’. Make it a bit longer, that’s fine.

Yes, your post will most likely not get picked up by CNN, but you want sales, more importantly fast sales for your students who expect returns on their 7-hour effort. Make it very specific therefore. You can broaden later, after the person has realized that AM is the path to inner fulfillment, peace and happiness. What that looks like>>

Secondly, this ties into the ‘quick win’. It is what it is, people don’t stick around because the ‘win’ is not there fast enough. Therefore, I would advise to (in the beginning) go for this niche and get fast results. The idea: get your students motivated. You can repeat over and over that ‘the long haul’ is the way to go, you might as well tell it to a chair. Our brains are wired to receive fast McRewards.

By the way, in my furniture business I soon learned that people don’t read well either. We used to have a massive (!) – I mean gigantuous sign at the entrance of the showroom saying ‘All Furniture Can Be Colorized To Your Preference’. Still needed to hit them over the head with it. We lost a few customers that way unfortunately.

Closing: we (AM people who just want a happier planet for tomorrow) are battling the number one problem daily: students that don’t stick around. Motivation gone too soon.

We need, for the sake of our own mental health therefore offer that ‘quick win’.

‘Hamster Products For 8 years old Girls and PTSD on Xanax in Alberta’

‘Best Jobs in Education for non-teachers during a new pandemic in bay-area’

I believe this is sensible advice and a way to let them new Affiliate Marketeers taste the success that AM can bring.

Happy Affiliate Marketing!
